Ambulance Service
Emergency Call Number: An easily accessible and affordable three-digit emergency toll free phone number. ‘102’ has been set up in control rooms in all the districts.
Free Transport: All patients are allowed free transport to public health facilities and to private health facilities in case of emergency/accident on payment of Rs 7/- per km.
Under MMIY these services are being further liberalized and now free ambulance services will be provided to pregnant women. Sick children up to five years of age.
Key Features of Ambulance Service
- The ambulances are equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS).
- The 24×7 control room in each district hospital is manned by control room operators to receive calls, mobilize ambulances and monitor through Geographic Information System (GIS).
- Daily reporting is being done from the control room to the state headquarters regarding every call coming to the control room through the software.
Free indoor facilities
To facilitate better care of indoor patients, an indoor package program was launched in 2009. Under this, a patient had to pay Rs 100 per day and all medicines were provided by the government hospital and ward fees were also included in it.
This program creates a mechanism for cross subsidy for poor patients, i.e. BPL and urban slum dwellers of Haryana as these categories are entitled for free indoor services under this programme. The first 24 hours of admission to the emergency ward are free for everyone.
With the initiative of free testing and free testing for all by the state government under MMIY, all services in indoor wards will be free for all. The patient will not have to pay anything for admission, examination and treatment in the ward. A patient who is admitted in a private ward will have to pay the private ward fee, the remaining medicines and tests will be covered under MMIY.
