Shravan Tirth Darshan Yojana has been started by the state government of Gujarat, which is a kind of pilgrimage program. Gujarat Shravan Tirth Darshan Yojana has been launched by the Prime Minister of the country, Honorable Narendra Modi, under which subsidies and other benefits are provided to senior citizens of the state for undertaking pilgrimage within the state. • Under this scheme, only senior citizens of the state, whose age is 60 years or more, will be made to visit all the popular pilgrimage places within the state.

• Under this scheme of the state government, the beneficiary senior citizens are made to travel within the state by non-AC buses of state transport and 50% of the travel cost is provided by the state government itself.
• In order to make the benefits of Shravan Tirth Darshan Yojana reach more and more senior citizens, appropriate amendments have been made in the norms of the scheme by the state government.
• Under these amendments, 75% of the cost of the journey is now paid by the state government to the beneficiary senior pilgrims traveling by non-AC superbus, minibus, sleeper bus operated by Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation.
• Under the scheme, earlier the duration of the journey for the pilgrims was fixed at 60 hours by the state government but at present it has been increased to 72 hours.
• In the initial phase of this scheme, it used to take up to two months to approve an application by the government, but now it takes only one week after the amendment.
