Pradhan Mantri Mitra scheme has been started to promote the textile and manufacturing sector, under this scheme new textile parks will be set up by the government. PM Mitra Yojana has been launched on 6 October 2021. This scheme is also known as Pradhan Mantri Mega Textile Integrated Textile and Apparel Scheme. Under PM Mitra Yojana, 7 Integrated Textile Parks will be constructed across the country so that from spinning, weaving, processing, dyeing and printing to manufacturing of clothes will be done at one place. A big revolution will come in the textile and manufacturing sector through the Pradhan Mantri Mitra Yojana.

Rs 4445 crore will be spent by the government for the operation of this scheme. PM Mitra Yojana has been inspired from the 5F model of the Prime Minister which is Farm to Fiber to Factory to Fashion to Foreign. Through this scheme world class infrastructure will be created in the textile park. Apart from this, this scheme will create 21 lakh jobs. In which 7 lakh direct and 14 lakh indirect employment will be received. This scheme will prove effective in helping Indian companies to emerge as global companies.

Purpose of PM Mitra Scheme

The main objective of PM Mitra Yojana is to provide an integrated ecosystem to the textile industry. Through this scheme 7 textile parks will be constructed across the country. From spinning, weaving, processing, dyeing and printing to manufacturing of clothes will be done in these parks. Components of PM Mitra Scheme

200 crores will be spent for the development of Brownfield Park, besides 300 crores support will be provided to all Mitra Parks for competitive incentives to the manufacturing units. Apart from this, Mitra Park will be developed in the Special Purpose Vehicle Public Private Partnership mode.

These parks will be set up in all the states where cheap land, water and labor will be provided. The estimated cost of setting up 7 parks is Rs 17000 crore. Those units which will make large investment in the beginning will also be provided assistance on first come first serve basis. A unit of up to Rs 30 crore will be provided by the government in 3 years. Research centers, design centers, training centers, medical facilities, home facilities for workers, warehouses, transport facilities, hotels, shops will also be built in these textile parks. This park will be an integrated system through which an ecosystem will be created in which everyone can benefit and help from each other. 50% area of ​​the park will be developed for pure manufacturing activities, 20% area for utilities and 10% area for commercial development.
