Amrut Yojana 2024

AMRUT scheme has been launched by the central government. Basic services will be provided to the citizens of the country through this scheme. Including water supply, sewerage, urban transport etc. This scheme has been started with the aim of improving the standard of living of the citizens of the country. Under this scheme, priority will be given to the economically weaker citizens. Water supply and sewerage connection will be ensured in each household through AMRUT scheme. Apart from this, parks will also be developed. Efforts will also be made to improve public transport through Amrut Yojana.

Objective of Amrut Yojana

The main objective of Amrut Yojana is to provide basic facilities to the citizens of the country. These facilities include water supply, sewerage, urban transport etc. The standard of living of the citizens of the country will improve through this scheme. Apart from this, the citizens of the country will become strong and self-reliant. Economically weak citizens will be given priority in providing facilities under this scheme. The citizens of the country will be provided water supply and sewerage connection through this scheme. Apart from this, parks, storm water drainage and urban transport will also be developed through this scheme.

Components of Amrut Yojana

Water Supply- Through this scheme, the facility of water supply will be provided to the citizens of the country. Old water supply systems will be rehabilitated. Water bodies will be specially rejuvenated for drinking water supply and ground water. Apart from this, special water supply arrangements will be made in the areas having problem of water quality.
Sewerage – The existing sewerage system and network of sewerage treatment plants will be developed through AMRUT scheme. Apart from this, the old sewerage system and treatment plant will be rehabilitated. Citizens of the country will also be motivated to use water.
Storm Water Drainage- Under this scheme, drains will be constructed to reduce and eliminate floods. Apart from this, the drains will also be improved.
Urban Transport – Under this scheme, citizens will be encouraged to use footpaths, foot over bridges and non-motorized transport by the government.
Green Spaces/Parks- Parks for children, senior citizens and differently-abled citizens will also be developed by following friendly components through AMRUT scheme.

Fund Allocation Under Amrut Yojana

A fund of Rs 50000 crore has been allocated by the government for 5 years (2015-16 to 2019-20).
This scheme will be operated as a centrally sponsored scheme.
Under this scheme, 80% of the budgetary allocation will be kept as project fund.
10% of the budgetary allocation will be earmarked for reforms.
Under the AMRUT scheme, 8% of the annual budget allocation will be kept as administrative and office expenditure.
2% of the annual budget allocation will be earmarked as MoHUA fund for administrative and office expenditure.
