The Government of Kerala launched a new Seed Capital Financial Assistance Scheme on 18 October 2021. Assistance to SHGs as part of PM FME Scheme
The Central Government is already implementing the Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme. PM FME scheme is running in collaboration with the state governments to encourage food processing industries. The new PM FME scheme aims to provide financial, technical and business support to small food processing enterprises.
One District One Product (ODOP) plan was formulated to identify and promote the sale of one product from each district. The scheme involves procuring raw materials using common facilities for production and helping to broaden the market for the product. The Ministry of Food Processing also helps entrepreneurs to create logistic support and develop brand building for the product.

Assistance to self-help groups
- Self Help Group members will get initial capital up to Rs. 40,000 for purchasing machines from PMFME scheme.
- Members of SHGs involved in the food processing industry are entitled to receive 35 per cent of the credit linked capital subsidy subject to a maximum of Rs 10 lakh.
- Capital investment of SHG federation can also get 35 percent subsidy through credit linked grant.
The meals processing ministry by means of the Atma Nirbhar Abhiyan venture will give Rs. 4,30,51,096 as seed capital fund to 1440 Kudumbasree models in Kerala.
